And the stars look very different today...

It was a way out. But it wasn't home.

Truthfully, after Norfinbury, anything would be better than that place, but the cold truth was--there was no way to find his own universe out of the endless multiverse, even if Norfinbury's busted technology had worked properly. He was stuck, here, with a megalomaniac Flynn--granted, a Flynn that managed to open up a portal out of there. Maybe that's what it took to get out of Norfinbury.

Or, Peter thought sometimes on bad days, Norfinbury only released you once you became the twisted version of yourself it wanted you to be. A specially-designed virus inflicted on countless worlds.

Besides, he ought to know something about that.

He didn't stay long on earth, he couldn't. Maybe it had something to do with the mystery of how they were revived in Norfinbury, their bodies recreated or cloned or healed, or maybe it was something that was gonna happen to him anyway, but he could feel the Light burning inside him, inside his head almost as soon as he landed. A desperate need to take to the stars. He'd managed to create a ship and took off.

Time passes, and scientists notice something odd about several exoplanets they're monitoring, especially ones marked as 'earth-like' or other planets in zones that could make them potentially habitable. Bright bursts of light and changes in the composition of the atmosphere or surface, it was inexplicable. Possible evidence of intelligent life? If they didn't know any better, especially with the rocky planets that now somehow boasted extreme changes, it was like something was terraforming them.

There was cause for alarm when Mars suddenly turned blue and green a few months later.

Meanwhile, a small blue-and-orange ship that looked suspiciously like a slightly more organic-looking Milano was racing towards the earth.

Not the king, no.

[Flynn spreads his arms like the dramatic little shit that he is and at the same time the magic shield reflects the beams coming at the planet below.]

The ruler! The god!

[He smiles when the energy is diverted into space, the magic shield holding and he tsks.]

You know, I really don't care what you do out there. Go wild. Make your little Peterium, maybe we can have trade relations at some point. But Earth is off-limits. Maybe it's just one planet.

But it's mine.

[Flynn laughs at Peter's angry outburst.]

You're in my world now, Star-Star. And Earth is under my protection!

[There's something that stirs in him at the words, something old and long-forgotten, something that feels almost... good.

Huh.

Must be the hilarity of rubbing it into Peter's face.]

You'll never have it.

[Flynn's expression changes, eyes widening slightly for a moment before his face scrunches up with concentraion. He flickers on the screen and then disappears when all of his focus is needed elsewhere.

The asteroids outside hit the shield and gleam, engulfed in magic and for a moment it looks like they might break through but then -- they stop, stuck in an eerie, blue light.

When Flynn's face return to the screen there's something close to fury on his face.]

You dare attack my planet?!

[The planet --of his mom, and Judson, and Nicole, and Eve, and-- that he rules, that he claimed, Peter actually dared to try and put it in ruins like that?]

You should have known better than to piss me off.

[The blue light glows brighter, more intense and then -- the asteroids are pushed back and towards Peter's ship.]

[Again Flynn disappears, this time with an angry, strained sound. But this is Earth, the center of his power. Were they anywhere else in the universe he knows he wouldn't stand a chance but they're on Flynn's turf and one by one they're held back, some stopped, some blasted into tiny little pieces, some diverted.

This is getting so tedious!

He briefly flashes in and out of existence on the screen in annoyance.]

Go. Away.

[Flynn looks just as worn out, breathing heavily, his hair sticking up wildly and disheveled.]

Well, then I guess I'll just have to make you.

And I'm out of yours.

[A standoff then. But one he will establish on peak pettiness.]

And so is Earth.

Uh, no.

No, Peter, you're not.

[So there.]

Well, you're still in range.

Which means...

[One of the ship's panels flickers and goes dark. Magic!]

[Sorry, Peter. That moon? Absolutely in range.

Not enough in range to make your ship blow up but close enough to put a smaller protective shield to stop you from landing.]

I'm not gonna tell you again. This place is mine.

Bye-bye for now, Stardust!

[Flynn smirks, waving, his projection becoming weaker and flickering out the further Peter gets away from Earth.]
