And the stars look very different today...
It was a way out. But it wasn't home.
Truthfully, after Norfinbury, anything would be better than that place, but the cold truth was--there was no way to find his own universe out of the endless multiverse, even if Norfinbury's busted technology had worked properly. He was stuck, here, with a megalomaniac Flynn--granted, a Flynn that managed to open up a portal out of there. Maybe that's what it took to get out of Norfinbury.
Or, Peter thought sometimes on bad days, Norfinbury only released you once you became the twisted version of yourself it wanted you to be. A specially-designed virus inflicted on countless worlds.
Besides, he ought to know something about that.
He didn't stay long on earth, he couldn't. Maybe it had something to do with the mystery of how they were revived in Norfinbury, their bodies recreated or cloned or healed, or maybe it was something that was gonna happen to him anyway, but he could feel the Light burning inside him, inside his head almost as soon as he landed. A desperate need to take to the stars. He'd managed to create a ship and took off.
Time passes, and scientists notice something odd about several exoplanets they're monitoring, especially ones marked as 'earth-like' or other planets in zones that could make them potentially habitable. Bright bursts of light and changes in the composition of the atmosphere or surface, it was inexplicable. Possible evidence of intelligent life? If they didn't know any better, especially with the rocky planets that now somehow boasted extreme changes, it was like something was terraforming them.
There was cause for alarm when Mars suddenly turned blue and green a few months later.
Meanwhile, a small blue-and-orange ship that looked suspiciously like a slightly more organic-looking Milano was racing towards the earth.

[Flynn spreads his arms like the dramatic little shit that he is and at the same time the magic shield reflects the beams coming at the planet below.]
The ruler! The god!
[He smiles when the energy is diverted into space, the magic shield holding and he tsks.]
You know, I really don't care what you do out there. Go wild. Make your little Peterium, maybe we can have trade relations at some point. But Earth is off-limits. Maybe it's just one planet.
But it's mine.
no subject
You're never gonna get over that god-thing, are you?
[The energy ricochets off and Peter kicks at his console.]
Damn it! How did you--nothing can withstand the Light! What did you use!?
[His eyes widen.]
No. It's not yours! It's MINE! It's mine and I'm gonna take it--
[He fires wildly again, more and more shots--]
no subject
You're in my world now, Star-Star. And Earth is under my protection!
[There's something that stirs in him at the words, something old and long-forgotten, something that feels almost... good.
Huh.
Must be the hilarity of rubbing it into Peter's face.]
You'll never have it.

[More blasts, but it's useless. He has to think of another way in.
...a really, really bad way in.
Peter frowns, he doesn't want to do this, the destruction will be enormous, but what's the point? He's just gonna take it over anyway. He shuts his eyes and concentrates--he actually hates the feeling of his consciousness spread out, every new planet he's taken over stretches his sense of self just a little bit more and it's so weird and alien and he hates thinking about it and it doesn't matter because he needs earth no matter what--
--elsewhere, two asteroids in the solar system's asteroid belt that have been assimilated, because Peter thought hey, might need a few of these things to throw around suddenly bring to life, glowing a light, white blue and hurtling near light-speed towards earth.
They suddenly rocket past Peter's ship as he opens his eyes again, glowing white with the exertion, and aim straight for the same place he'd been shooting at. Maybe the shield was weakened?]
Take that, buddy!
no subject
The asteroids outside hit the shield and gleam, engulfed in magic and for a moment it looks like they might break through but then -- they stop, stuck in an eerie, blue light.
When Flynn's face return to the screen there's something close to fury on his face.]
You dare attack my planet?!
[The planet
--of his mom, and Judson, and Nicole, and Eve, and--that he rules, that he claimed, Peter actually dared to try and put it in ruins like that?]You should have known better than to piss me off.
[The blue light glows brighter, more intense and then -- the asteroids are pushed back and towards Peter's ship.]
no subject
[Peter has to quickly maneuver, he loses control of the asteroids when the magic hits them and they go flying at his ship--there's a CRUNCH as one of them smashes into a wing and he nearly does a Darth-Vader flying into the void as he tries to get his ship under control.]
You dare attack me with my own asteroids!?
[You're gonna get it now, bro. Peter has to get out of his seat and stand up for this one, it's gonna take all his concentration. He managed to take all 28 asteroids that he currently controls, and grunts with the exertion of sending them all towards earth in a blitz of light-covered rocks of doom as he motions his hands towards the planet.]
no subject
This is getting so tedious!
He briefly flashes in and out of existence on the screen in annoyance.]
Go. Away.
no subject
Not...fair!
I'm not going away, bro.
no subject
Well, then I guess I'll just have to make you.
no subject
You can't make me. You can't do anything to me out here! I'm out of your reach, bro!
[Except the screen, but that didn't count.]
no subject
[A standoff then. But one he will establish on peak pettiness.]
And so is Earth.
no subject
Maybe.
I'm gonna take the moon.
no subject
No, Peter, you're not.
[So there.]
no subject
[So double there.]
no subject
Which means...
[One of the ship's panels flickers and goes dark. Magic!]
no subject
[You put that magic right back where it came from or so help him.]
Can't reach me on the moon, bro! [He actually has no idea if the moon is in magic range or not.[ I'm gonna turn it into something awesome!
[He quickly turns his ship around and starts racing towards it.]
no subject
Not enough in range to make your ship blow up but close enough to put a smaller protective shield to stop you from landing.]
I'm not gonna tell you again. This place is mine.
no subject
That's SO NOT FAIR!
no subject
[Flynn smirks, waving, his projection becoming weaker and flickering out the further Peter gets away from Earth.]
